Education Group

Offering Bible study and discussion groups to encourage and continue Christian Adult Education

Maintaining the Church library located in the offices of Fellowship Hall

Coordinating with the Southwest Conference and Worship Group when appropriate

Two Faith Exploration groups meet each week.

Tuesday mornings between 10 am and 11 am, a Bible-based discussion group meets in Fellowship Hall.

Study topics are selected by group members and include exploring books of the Bible and the seasons of

the church year - such as Advent and Lent.

Wednesday evenings between 5 pm and 7 pm, a potluck/discussion group meets in Fellowship Hall.

Group members select TED talks to view and discuss, reflecting on the speaker's comments and how persons of faith are informed and challenged by the presentation. TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is a non-profit media organization posting talks online for free distribution, as "ideas worth spreading".

All members of the Oro Valley community are welcome to attend these groups.

The Education Group maintains 3 libraries in Fellowship Hall.

The Theological Library provides books and media about Christian, Jewish and other world religions, with a focus on Christian theology. Biblical commentaries, Bibles in different translations, devotional guides, and works of contemporary Biblical scholars are the primary focus. Materials are available for check-out.

Oro Valley United Church Of Christ recognizes and celebrates our members and friends who share their talents with us in prose, poetry and audio recordings in the  Local Author's Library. Materials are available for check-out.

The Theological Library and the Local Author's Library are found in the administrator's office.

These libraries are open Monday-Thursday 9 am to 2 pm.

The Reading Room at the back of Fellowship Hall offers books on three topics.

These books may be borrowed without check-out and may be kept by the borrower or returned after reading.

The top shelf of the bookcase offers materials on care-giving and supporting each other during long illness, dying, and grief.  The lower shelves offer general reading- both fiction and non-fiction by contemporary authors.

The Reading Room is open Monday- Thursday 9 am to 2 pm and Sunday from 11 am to noon, during Fellowship Time following Sunday worship.
